Reducing My Eco Foot Print With Solar Power

By Jon Dunn

Are your expenses outpacing your income? I know mine are. Between gas, groceries, and my utility bills, it is driving me crazy. And, don't get me going on the economy... I haven't had a raise in three years. Luckily, I am able to cut back on my driving, and I am more careful about what I put in the grocery cart.

I've been trying to figure out how to reduce other expenses, including my electric bill. So I did a bit of research on the internet for solar power and found some interesting information:

Solar power is becoming more widely used as a home power source each year. With today's economic woes, creating an alternative solar power generator for your home could save a lot of money in the long run. In sunny areas, many people have installed panels on their roofs to help power air-conditioning, lighting, and other household necessities and found that the panels pay for themselves.

As a great alternative that will not only benefit the environment, solar power electricity will also save you thousands in the long run. Most of us shy away from installing solar power solutions at home thinking them to be expensive and cumbersome. With the rising popularity of solar energy, technology has become more advanced and more affordable.

Electricity is the one thing that helps and hurts us more than anything else in this world. The amount of pollution that we spew into the air every day from producing electricity makes me wonder why clean energy is not already a standard in this country. Yes it does seem that we are getting better but the only way we can save our planet; the one thing that will keep us alive is to all take steps to become a clean energy country.

Now I know we all can’t afford solar but if you start small and continue to add some here and there soon enough the electric company will be paying you for your excess energy. For me I started small and bought some solar lanterns and put them outside during the day and used them indoors at night. I noticed a drastic drop in my electric bill and felt better for putting a smaller foot print in are eco system.

Now there a lot of other things you can do to bring up the production of our sun, which is an infinite energy producer, if we use the energy in the correct way. Now every day in this country we are making advances in the field of solar energy. We are coming up with ways to harness more energy with smaller panels. I see in the near future one small panel to power a entire home.

Well I know that we are not at that point yet but now is as good a time as any to start your adventure. Plus every penny you put into solar energy helps put money in the hands of those who are doing the research to make this a better energy source for all of us. So consider it an investment for your children and grandchildren future.
